A little about John & Jenna | JFK Studios

Thank you for stopping by.  Welcome to our note pad, our journal, our diary & our lives.  We are asked into the lives of many couples & families every year.  It's personal, it's intimate, and it’s a relationship.  Please feel free to browse our blog where you'll find not only some awesome images that we've captured but the stories that go along with each event.  We are so much more than a business, we are a family who shares a passion for photography and for people.

As you read through our adventures, you'll likely find yourself Oohing and Ahhing at some beautiful weddings & portraiture, discovering information guiding you to some of the amazing vendors we work with and my personal favorite, things about us.  You've allowed us into your life, it's an honor to share with you, ours.

Heather & Tyler | Wedding

Heather is contagious from her upbeat personality to easy going ways right down to her laugh, which is seriously makes you grin ear to ear. ;)   When John and I first met with her and Tyler, we instantly knew that we were going to have a great time with these two!  What a great couple!

I’d had the pleasure of emailing and visiting with Heather over the past few months, helping them with their time-line and with each visit and email I grew more and more excited for their wedding day to roll around.   We arrived at the University Temple United Methodist Church in Seattle, and saw a town car waiting at the front door.  It was Heather and some of her bridal party!  We snuck a peek at the beautiful bride before we were let in the church.

Casual and calm, all the ladies were getting ready and then it was time for Heather to put on her gown.  Every bride anxiously awaits to put on her gown on her wedding day, but this was not just any gown, this was special.  Made specifically for Heather, her mother put in many many hours into this dress, she had even sewn in a special tag. :)

There seemed to be even more anticipation and excitement as we headed for the unveiling.  See, Tyler just finished law school, which has had him living in an entirely different state than Heather for a long time now.  So, being witness to the first moments of their unveiling was almost like witnessing them see each other for the first time in months.  It was pretty sweet! :)

Just as we anticipated, the ceremony was beautiful and the reception was a blast!  It’s so apparent how much Heather & Tyler care for each other and how much love and support they have from friends and family.  That’s just awesome!  We are so grateful to have been a part of their journey & a part of their day.  Thank you Heather & Tyler for sharing your lives with us!  We truly enjoyed capturing each moment!  Congratulations to you both!

Katie & Blair | Wedding

Katie & Blair were engaged in China!  Yup!  You heard that right.  He popped the question on the Great Wall of China and before they could even return to the states we were contacted by Katie’s mom setting up a meeting for when they returned.  We were so excited to meet them and hear their story.  One of my favorites from their trip was that they actually had engagement pictures taken while in China.  Katie had admitted that it was one of the most awkward things she’d ever done.  Partially because of the language barrier, but in most part because of the photographers tactics.   Needless to say that her experience with JFK Studios would be the exact opposite! :)

Their wedding was shot by our wonderfully talented senior associate, Steve Smith.  He met up with the bridal party at their hotel in Bellevue where the unveiling and portraits took place.

Their reception site holds a place near to me and John.  In 2006, this is where we had our reception!   Sitting right on the banks of Renton’s Cedar River, this venue is a great blank canvas.  SO many possibilities and I think Katie & Blair did a great job with their decor!

Steve shared with me what a great time he had and what a great time everyone seemed to have!  Thank you so much Katie & Blair for allowing JFK Studios to be a part of your journey!   We hope you enjoy these few teasers!  So many more awesome images are in your near future!!!

Hitched | Kris & Melissa

We are so excited to share two of the most wonderful people with you! Kris and Melissa are fun, generous, great conversationalists and great people all around! From the time we met and we heard the words (or read them, because it was via email lol) “we want you to photograph our wedding!!!” John and I could barely contain our excitement!

Fast forward to July 30th. The big day they had been waiting for. We walked up to the Edmonds Plaza Room, and were greeted by a beautiful bride making sure all of the final details of her reception were just so. It was so great to see her again and she looked so beautiful with her hair and make-up just perfectly so. Soon, it was time to head to the room for her to finish getting ready. I love these images of her reading a little note from her soon to be husband.

And a few more of the beautiful bride just before she was to meet her groom.

The room where she got ready was lit wonderfully by these beautiful windows. Of course, getting some details here was a must!

We were to shuttle the bride and groom in our car down to the ferry docks, for the unveiling. If you’re wondering how we managed to escort them both down to the docks in one car, with out him seeing her, well, look on…

We had a few minutes before the bridal party showed up so of course we took advantage of this time and captured these amazing shots!

Melissa & Kris share a love for wine (although I think it’s mostly Melissa) and so for their ceremony they decided to blend wine (instead of sand).  What a cool idea!

Now husband and wife, they were free to interact with friends and family.  As the beautiful sun on the horizon, the reception was in full swing.   It’s apparent that everyone had a great time.  I know we did!

What an incredible day it was. Two wonderful people were married and a fabulous time was had by all! We are so grateful to have been witness to such a beautiful ceremony and are so happy to call you friends!

Senior Prom | Hazen High Senior Prom Portraits

I was asked if I would want to do some pictures of a fun bunch of Hazen High-ers before prom!  Logistically, they couldn’t have their pictures taken at prom so I jumped at the chance!

There were 4 couples and all of them were so much fun!  I captured the traditional exchange of corsage/boutonniere, couple and single pics as well as some group pictures!  Here are just a few…

Fun in the sun | Portraits in the park

Catching up on on blogs, I’m excited to finally share these images that I took back in June!

I spent a couple hours with two adorable little boys and their equally awesome parents!  Rhienn (the mommy) is owner of the fantastic Look Cupcake in Seattle!  I was privileged enough to have her make my daughter’s 1st birthday cake.  Not only was it the most amazing cake to look at, but it was so yummy! :)

Here are a couple shots of some of the most adorable boys ever!

Thanks Davis family for a great afternoon!  Your little ones are so well behaved!  I had a blast, hope you did too! :)

Marissa & John | Engagement Session

We are so excited to share these images and quick story about Marissa & John!  Marissa is not only one of our brides but she’s also a great friend and awesome caregiver to our sweet Ellie!

Marissa & John have spent many years as friends, just barely missing opportunities to date.  One day the stars must have been aligned just right.  Both were single and interested in pursuing the next step.  Now, engaged to be married next June, these two are so in love and just a blast to be around.

We just LOVE Gene Coulon Park and were excited when she said that they’d like their pictures done there.  Here are some of our favorites!

Cheers to Marissa & John!  We heart you guys and had such a great time!   Thanks for letting us capture these moments… we’re looking forward to your big day!

XOXO,
Jenna & John
